Our annual backward glance at the year gone by is a rousing reminder of the fantastic creative work we’ve enjoyed in just 12 months. The 50 articles you clicked on most include just a smidgen of these projects, but encompass most of the major topics faced by creative people today.

Creatives took on tech advancements in myriad ways this year, from the Guardian team making all its election artwork by hand, to the “non-AI” artist drawing from prompts, and the tech exec who made an unnerving and avant-garde portfolio site, not to mention the enigmatically named Boring Phone project...

We launched not one but two new columns in 2024: The View From, reporting on the local creative community in eight major cities around the world; and POV, sharing perspective currently stirring conversation and setting trends across the creative industry. Many of these found their way into your reading lists, but there are plenty more where they came from!

We also published tons of great long-read features that you lapped up in droves, covering subjects such as perfectionism, screen time, beautiful computer games, “bro” movie posters, creative labour practices, movie title design, and whether it’s possible to own an aesthetic.

So dig in, and thanks for reading!
