As Private View, It’s Nice That and The Conran Shop’s partnership for LDF17 continues its run, we invite everyone to join Charlotte Mei in-store for drop-in art and sculpture workshops. All of the sculptures on show have been created from scratch using products available at The Conran Shop. For the next two weekends we invite you to become the artist and be inspired by the spirit of Private View.
Illustrator and ceramicist Charlotte has been featured many times on It’s Nice That and her work is a colourful riot of sharp observations and curious characters. “All of my work is about experiment and play,” says Charlotte. “At the workshops we are going to be creating pots, shapes and small sculptures in clay.”
The drop in workshops will allow visitors to make work from scratch or use pre-made shapes to paint and decorate to make a design that they can take home to display at their own private view. “It will be suitable for adults and children alike,” says Charlotte. “Each workshop is about fun and interaction and if you mess up we can either work through the problem together, or simply start again.”
Details of the workshops can be found below.
It’s Nice That has collaborated with The Conran Shop for the second year in a row to transform the windows of it’s Kensington store for Private View – an installation that celebrates the weird and wonderful world of exhibition openings. Working with designers Arc Two, writer Michael Crowe and art fabricators Howling Hands, we have transformed the windows of the Kensington store using products, set design, storytelling and chaos to question what a memorable event really might be…
