Being picky and paying attention to detail is kind of Tiquismiquis Club’s whole thing
The Malaga-based studio is dedicated to getting the nitty gritty right, with cultural and artistic projects that boast immaculate editorial layouts and thought-out identity systems for all kinds of creative clients.
Spanish graphic design studio Tiquismiquis Club was founded by Roberto Espartero and Juan Martín — a joint practice that offers its specialisms in visual identities and editorial design. Its name, Tiquismiquis, “translates to picky”, co-founder Roberto tells us, “a reflection of our philosophy: paying attention to every detail and approaching projects with dedication, seeking creative solutions that connect with people.”
“Typographical play and editorial compositions characterise our work”, shares studio co-founder Juan, “which we develop in collaboration with other creatives to offer customised solutions with their own identity.” Spanning publication and poster design, identities for independent eateries, cultural festivals and artists, the studio’s vibrant portfolio is united by a healthy perfectionism over all the smaller details; things that the eye might usually miss, now made centre stage.
The studio has a particular affinity for cultural and artistic projects that they can get really stuck into. One we particularly loved is their design work on the film I am Loving you Crazy which was the result of the studio’s complete immersion into the graphic universe of the 70s, “analysing photographs and archives from the decade, to understand characteristic colours, fonts and design styles”, their meticulous approach shining through in the attention to detail given to the film’s props and ephemera.
A similar research and revival project saw the studio have its start: Alioliesajonesa, “A personal project dedicated to documenting and recovering the old signage of Málaga”, says Roberto. “This initiative allowed us to explore the city’s rich graphic heritage and solidified our passion for creating visual identities, sparking our interest in the small details that enrich design and all the stories they conceal.”
