The roadside attractions, hangry conversations and showy cocktails of life in the sun, from Ditto Press
Koolie is an anthology of drawings, photographs and stories about holidays. Edited by illustrators Sophy Hollington and Esther McManus – who have also spent the last few years perfecting their printing skills as Risograph technicians at Ditto Press – the book is accomplished in terms of its breadth of work and the processes involved in its production. Featuring work by both Sophy and Esther, as well as Mark Simmonds, Adam Ferner, Charles-Antoine and Nick Wood; Koolie has everything from burger cars, lurid cocktails and surfers to lists of potential destinations and stories about the trials and tribulations of holiday hikes.
Each section is designed by its author, with tip-ins, glossy finishes and a range of papers all combining to prove that variety is the spice of life. Koolie is a great example of what can be done with a print process that has often been pigeonholed as something for low-budget one-colour publishing.
