Photography: Cocky personalities are flaunted in Ernest Goh's book full of chickens

We’ve all seen our fair share of cocky dancers, but they’re usually in a club after 2am pretending they’ve got “swagger” and they rarely look anything like this. These hilarious and wonderful photographs are the work of Ernest Goh, whose mastery of animal photography has never been more evident.

At first glance it seems unfathomable that these photographs could be genuine, but these birds are the real deal. And as part of the Malaysian chicken beauty pageant circuit, they are regulars to the limelight. Used to strutting down runways rather than around the farmyard, they prove how much personality their British brethren might have if they were truly free range.

Goh has published a whole book of these mesmerising photographs, entitled Cocks: The Chicken Book. It’s full of glamorous chickens, some with personalities more evident even than some people I know. His remarkable work is guaranteed to make you see chickens as more than just drumsticks, kievs and pâté.
