Gorgeous Memphis-inspired, primary colour-packed work from Benjamin Rawson

Date
31 May 2016

Since creating a series of gorgeous Escher-like house drawings way back in 2012, illustrator Benjamin Rawson has moved his style on to crisp, primary coloured images. Just as gorgeous, they use symbols and icons like match sticks, soda cups and apples to create unashamedly Memphis-like scenes. One recent project is a great series of risoprints called If Jerry Can, printed by Tan ’n’ Loose press. The final images are executed perfectly, with clean lines and strange yet superbly composed configurations.

What’s lovely about his site is that these completed works are shown next to sketches, experiments and fresh ideas, and it’s a joy to see the process and the monochrome beginnings of each piece.
