Alison Thomson: MS: the big knit

Date
9 June 2011

Another chance for us to feature Alison Thomson with a project that’s once again conceptually very interesting, and for a good cause. The big knit is a collaborative project between Thomson, the British Society for Immunology and knitting groups across the UK, helping to educate and raise awareness about the disease MS, bringing science to the forefront through creativity and the social act of knitting. The result is a knitted art installation, made up of 3 tableaux interpreting “the nature of the disease, the role of genetics and the impact of our environment on the disease”. It will be on display at the Cheltenham Science Festival this Sunday along with a knitting circle and talk.
