Studio Output creates identity for BBC Connected Studio
Studio Output has created the identity for the BBC’s Connected Studio, a new initiative for the organisation to develop new features and formats for BBC audiences.
BBC Connected works by combining insights from the organisation’s staff with those from external agencies, startups and individual designers through Connected Studio events and workshops. These see participants work together to pitch, build and deliver new ideas. Studio Output’s identity for the studio aims to “represent their values and energy in a confident and engaging way, and feed into BBC Taster, their parent brand,” according to the agency. Studio Output worked with animation studio Found on the project,
The branding uses a number of illustrated “s” and “c” letters that interlock in various ways throughout different applications of the branding. Studio Output says: “The C is always rendered in a solid and consistent form whereas the S takes on a more experimental nature, hinting at the different outputs of Connected Studio. Depending on the type of situation it’s being applied to, this graphic element can be swapped and changed to suit the mood while retaining brand consistency.
“The identity system consists of bold type and dramatic image textures. These dynamic crops of the 3D renders act as flexible backgrounds to be used across the brand’s various communications. The whole system comes to life in a series of motion idents designed to house key pieces of content, both online and in conferences.”
