Quentin Blake retrospective opening this weekend at National Museum Cardiff
A new retrospective exhibition of Quentin Blake’s work opens Saturday 16 July at National Museum Cardiff, showcasing the work and process of one of the nation’s most beloved illustrators.
Co-curated by Quentin Blake himself alongside House of Illustration’s Claudia Zeff, the exhibition features roughs, storyboards, sketchbooks and notebooks excavating the origins of some of Blake’s most popular illustrated imaginings.
A plethora of his finished watercolour, ink and pastel works are showcased alongside, featuring selections from his collaborations with Roald Dahl’s The Twits and Danny the Champion of the World and David Walliams’ The Boy in the Dress to those from his own written and illustrated books.
Supported by Llywodraeth Cymru, the exhibition forms part of the ongoing Roald Dahl 100 Wales celebration. Quentin Blake: Inside Stories runs 16 July – 20 November at National Museum Cardiff.
