Dazed has launched a massive poster campaign with contributions from big names across the creative industry under the theme of #AloneTogether. The creatives including Wolfgang Tillmans, Vivienne Westwood, Charles Jeffrey, Jonas Lindstroem, Kris Andrew Small, Polly Nor, M/M Paris and Stephanie Specht have made artworks in response to the changes the Covid-19 emergency has made to our lives. The posters have been donated to a charity draw, where participants can donate £10 or more to Barts Charity for a chance to win the design.

The posters spotlight different outlooks on the crisis, imagining new worlds, exploring humanity in the current circumstances and using the medium for political messaging. Jefferson Hack, co-founder of Dazed and creator of one of the posters, explains that the campaign is rooted in the latter. “There is a long history of political protest and creative resistance being expressed through poster design, illustration and graphic art. Whether they are posters intended for the street or for the screen this inspiring collection gives voice to artists' social, political and personal reflections. Art at its most significant is as McLuhan reminds us in his writing our ‘early warning system’ for culture. Part warning, hope and inspiration, these posters are beacons for future action and connection.”

The visuals range from Charles Jeffrey’s disturbing collaged portrait to Jonas Lindstroem’s hopeful mock newspaper cover. Kris Andrew Small, who created a rainbow for our recent series, has brought his signature frenetic typography to his piece, while Margot Bowman’s sinewy figures depict a more chilled/bored side of lockdown. Polly Nor shows a character in bed hugging a tree, annotated with a beautiful quote from Yrsa Daley-Ward: “There are landscapes inside you, sprawling, green and full.” Meanwhile Tillmans and Westwood have taken a political slant, Tillmans urging people to support freedom of the press, and Westwood asking us to “buy less, choose well and make it last”.

The full list of creative contributors also includes Katharine Hamnett, 3D (Massive Attack), Christopher Kane, Peter Kennard x Jamie Reid, Extinction Rebellion, Fai Khadra, Matty Bovan, GMBH, Samuel Ross, James Massiah, Hank Willis Thomas, George Rouy, Wilson Oryema, Eric Lawrence, Lotte Andersen, William Farr, Kingsley Ifil, Julian Klincewicz, Gaika, Margot Bowman, Kris Andrew Small, Boot Boyz Biz and Sandy Kim.
