The thinking behind our live portfolio reviews with industry stars and Adobe Live.
The Nice Hour brought together a community of creatives with three dynamic online events. With sessions starring a different heavyweight creative, each event was packed with personalised advice and friendly discussion around key themes, and introduced an engaged new audience to Adobe Live.
Adobe Live is an online event series for creative practitioners. Taking place each weekday, the sessions invite creatives to share ideas and practical advice across illustration, graphic design, motion design and photography.
Adobe came to us to help grow awareness about their live sessions among It’s Nice That’s audience while diversifying the channel to include non-tutorial content.

We created The Nice Hour, a set of three Adobe Live events discussing specific topics with popular creatives, including designer Aries Moross, art director Eric Hu and illustrator and street artist Karabo Poppy. The trio offered up a deep dive on designing for music, meaningful typography and working with pattern, respectively.
To ensure viewer participation was at the heart of the events, we invited our audience to submit their portfolios for a live crit. It’s Nice That editor-in-chief, Matt Alagiah, and deputy editor, Lucy Bourton, sat down with our guests each week to go through viewers’ portfolios, offering advice on the specific work at hand but also on the industry as a whole.
We promoted each session with an article detailing the guest for the week and the theme of the session, kicking off with design legend Aries Moross on how to visualise music. The articles encouraged readers to submit their portfolios to be reviewed, with tips on how to present their work.
It’s Nice That created a playful and engaging identity for the series that was used across the event decks and social media. We incorporated Adobe’s typefaces throughout to allow for consistency between the It’s Nice That and Behance platforms.
- A curated event series, inviting 3 leading creatives including Aries Moross, Eric Hu and Karobo Poppy
- A showcase of 15 creatives with a background in illustration, graphic design and typography
- More than 8,000 engaged individuals attending the events hosted on Behance and YouTube
By giving creatives the opportunity to hear personalised advice from their creative heroes, The Nice Hour successfully introduced thousands of people to Adobe Live from all over Europe.
“This was such a fun project to work on! I loved hosting the sessions with Karabo and Eric, and I think the advice they (and Aries) shared was priceless for creatives looking to improve their skills and push their work further,” says Matt Alagiah, It’s Nice That’s editor-in-chief.
