Thomas Hillier’s work first caught my eye at The Bartlett architecture exhibition in 2008. His whimsical, intricately crafted assemblages, architectural plans and sections stood out for me – instantly more persuasive than the soulless, computer-rendered imagery so abundant in today’s architectural representation. He describes architecture as “the theatre of space,” and is fascinated by “unorthodox narratives” and using storytelling or humorous observations to explore spatial design in imaginative ways, as these pictures demonstrate.
