Philips and Kvadrat launch a new range of textiles by Patricia Urquiola
It might be over now but we’ve still got one or two bits and pieces left over from Milan Design Week that we’re not done talking about just yet, one of which is the collaboration between Philips, Kvadrat and Patricia Urquiola at Moroso’s Milan showroom. To celebrate the launch of Patricia’s first textile collection for Kvadrat, Moroso held a special launch event, The Revolving Room, that played host to these innovative fabrics.
Displayed on both a wall of revolving panels and Philips own Luminous Textile Panels, the installation aimed to reflect the rhythmic, repetitive inspirations behind Patricia’s designs; ’The Revolving Room is based around constant cycles. Hypnotically circular and repetitious rhythm is emphasised by the oversized embroidered fabrics’ she said.
Placing the Kvadrat fabrics over Soft Cells, the team were able to create a constantly-fluctuating visual installation of blurred shapes and muted hues that provided the perfect backdrop to the launch itself.
