Lydia Garnett channels last day of school excitement for Brutus fashion photo series
There’s nothing quite like that feeling of the last day before the summer holidays: all that time stretched out ahead, the smell of hayfevery grass and the smug knowledge that you’ve done absolutely bugger all apart from watch the occasional Bill Nye the Science Guy video in classes for the past fortnight. Capturing that youthful energy and optimism (ha, they’ll soon learn!) is a new campaign for fashion brand Brutus, shot by Lydia Garnett. Lydia, who’s also one of the editors at Accent Magazine, shot the series in the Isle of Wight on day school broke up before the summer holidays. The series focuses on best friends Brody, Jody and Katie, who are aged 12 and 13, and sees them doing what teenagers do best: writing hilarious, self-aggrandising things on each others’ clothes. The twist, of course, is that these aren’t their school shirts at all – you can almost hear their ‘rents sigh with relief – but garments provided by Brutus especially for the task. The only real question is “why on earth didn’t anyone draw on any felt tip boobs?” But then perhaps this trio are already more mature than the It’s Nice That editorial team.
