Jeannie Phan’s editorial illustrations tell the story with whimsical details
The richness and warmth in Canada-based Jeannie Phan’s illustrations feels almost autumnal. Soothing reds and comforting beiges with orange and peach tones whirl around providing safe space for her characters to manoeuvre in.
The illustrator’s client list includes The New Yorker, Reader’s Digest, Lucky Peach and The New York Times. There’s an element of whimsy to Jeannie’s pictures, taking her work to the slightly surreal but this oddness, where characters write with oversized fountain pens and step into different worlds through picture frames, adds interest and fun to her work.
