Big, bold and beautiful: Isabelle Vaverka designs Unseen photography festival mag
When a magazine is so big that you struggle to fit it on a table (albeit a rather small one in an east London coffee shop), its design had better justify it. The magazine in question is that for Amsterdam’s Unseen photography fair, an annual showcase of some amazing emerging photographers. As you might expect, the magazine accompanying the show is incredibly rich in gorgeous imagery, and its design manages to let that shine through while simultaneously demonstrating the nous of its creator, Isabelle Vaverka. The bright blue used throughout gives consistency to such disparate content, while the layout is the perfect sweet spot between experimental approaches and simplicity.
