Graphic Design: Sensational Japanese graphics from aptly-named Groovisions

Allow me to remind you of Groovisions, the best-named design studio in all Japan, perhaps even the world. You see what they did there right, groovy and… yeah of course. Aside from having a real knack for names the Tokyo-based studio are particularly handy at branding bands, producing products and advertising artists. Their bold design work is littered with graphic imagery and fully embraces a careful balance between design and illustration that few studios have pulled off with such flair. These excellent museum and gallery posters more or less exemplify their output since we last featured them but I’ve just found out they were also responsible for the graphics and music videos of one of the strangest bands of the 1990’s, Pizzicato Five, some of which you should definitely check out if you have the time.
