GO was published in Sheffield by Tom James and Tom Keeley as a “love letter to the city they lived in.” Issues included Gay, Dead and Apocalypse, the two Toms have now reunited for a project at the White Cubicle Toilet Gallery in the George and Dragon in Shoreditch, opening tonight. A PUBLIC INCONVENIENCE is an homage to the decline of the public toilet – closed, bricked up and overgrown huts that used to contain public conveniences and were often sites of illicit activities – and a metaphor for the greater neglect and privatisation of municipal public spaces. A limited edition publication lamenting lost toilets features photography by Theo Simpson.
