Graphic Design: Behold the wittily-named Desktop Publishing project
If a great idea and clever name is all you need to achieve design brilliance then we imagine Peter Chadwick of Popular is basking in the warm glow of creative success right now. Assisted by Jonny Holmes and aided by the photographic skills of David Ryle, Popular have created a fully-functioning printing table that acts as a simple, elegant manual press.
Desktop Publishing is the name of the project (you see what they did there) and consists of a plain MDF and steel table customised with spaces for ink tubs, glass mixing area and four plates for each stage of your CMYK print process. Right now it’s only able to print one complete image, but the creation of new plates would make this an endlessly useful piece of kit. There’s also a lovely piece of newsprint that accompanies and documents the project. Great idea, clever name, excellent results.Popular: Desktop Publishing
