Anyone who has lost days but gained infinite joy through archive.org’s ridiculously abundant online museum will know how futile it is to pick just one item from their mega muniments. However, in the spirit of all things inspirational and what with the nature of some illustrators perfect recall for old styles and less-than-ironic content, here are some originals! Cigar box labels might not be the wildest of graphic forms but the embossing, careful foil blocks, type treatment and lurid colours, not to mention inane expressions on the faces of the smokers, is inimitable stuff.
