Art & Graft takes us on a breathtaking animated walk
I sometimes feel like animators have things pretty tough. There they are, working slavishly away until the wee hours of the morning making still imagery appear to move naturally and by the end of the day what do they have to show for it? About five seconds worth of footage. Gruelling stuff!
I feel yet more sympathy when they’re tasked with creating something that apes the natural world. Take Art & Graft’s latest short The Walk for example; it’s one-and-a-half minutes of meticulously crafted movement that aims to capture the vast natural beauty of the Lake District all within the dimensions of your computer screen. Does it succeed? Spectacularly so, but the man-hours (not to mention raw talent) ploughed into this project can’t be underestimated. These guys are dauntingly committed to their work.
