Club culture-inspired posters by Ukrainian graphic designer Anton Synytsia
Anton Synytsia is a Ukranian graphic designer and founder of Мораль, a series of underground techno nights. Immersing himself within the techno and dance scene, the majority of Anton’s work is evidently influenced by club culture. Projects range from online posters, warped prints and album sleeve designs.
Anton’s decision to create poster-like gifs display an ability to resourcefully manipulate the concept of a printed poster into an online format. The poster featured is an interpretation of the 1948 cartoon, Tsvetik-semitsvetik. The basis of the cartoon is a young girl who receives a flower which can grant seven wishes, however she unfortunately wastes them in excitement. Anton explains his task “was to create a poster from a fragment of the cartoon, which will give an idea of the whole story”. The designer’s graphic rendition of the cartoon storyline depicts “the very moment the girl understands that she is left with only one petal, contemplating how fast she used the rest. Now, she considers how to use the last petal. On the poster, the whole story is shown in a few seconds".
Another project which displays Anton’s design capabilities is a series of posters for Totally Drunk an international poster contest. The three posters each explore an alternative title, ranging from Sunrise, to using the term Cracking to describe the creative process, and how creativity is ultimately a Roller Coaster.
