Anthony Burrill designs A-OK! watch in collaboration with Mr Jones Watches

Distinguished printmaker Anthony Burrill has collaborated with Mr Jones Watches to create A-OK! a limited edition watch, accompanied by a signed and numbered screen print by the designer. The London-based watch makers produce and assemble each of their products here in the city; their designs are distinctive and unique, often created in collaboration with contemporary creatives.

The A-OK! watch transforms Anthony’s print practice into a three dimensional format. “For the design I used pictograms, stencil fonts and arrows, elements which I’ve used before, combined with nice bright colours,” explains the designer. Anthony’s work is consistently collage-based and often influenced by found materials, indicated in the watch face design as “an assemblage of different interesting things”. The watch face layers the graphic elements of Anthony’s work with a number below the dial, while others are printed on the glass itself.

Crispin Jones, director of Mr Jones Watches was delighted to work with Anthony. “I’ve long admired his work and I thought it would be really interesting to see how he approached designing a watch as it’s such a different scale from his regular practice.” The final result is a distinctive watch that encapsulates Anthony’s print practice in a new product. In his own words: “when you see it on someone’s wrist it’s a real talking point!”

The watch and print are available exclusively as a pair from Mr Jones Watches in an edition of 100 pieces. A-OK! is released as a part of a number of collaborative watches from Mr Jones. Other partnerships include Last Laugh Tattoo by British tattoo artist Adrian Willard and Colour Venn a watch which uses three different coloured discs to rotate time, designed with Mark Champkins, inventor-in-residence at The Science Museum.
