Alasdair McLellan shoots Margaret Howell's AW15 campaign
What better image-maker to crystallise the pared-back, heritage-inspired simplicity of Margaret Howell’s line than Alasdair McLellan, a photographer whose ability to find a raw sincerity in even the most opaque face is unmatched in the industry? Margaret Howell and Alasdair’s collaboration stretches back a number of years, and yet with each new campaign he succeeds in extracting a new, unexpected tactility through his characteristic black and white portraits, pairing the designer’s signature classics with the windblown grasses of a wild landscape or a richly hued wooden interior. The AW15 collection calls for the former, and the resulting photographs bring a wonderful softness and a few stern faces to England’s South Downs and the Devil’s Dyke.
