Harley Weir photographs local family for Pringle Scotland's AW16 campaign
Harley Weir has photographed the AW 2016 campaign for Pringle Scotland, featuring a local Inverness family.
The series of photographs, art directed by Chris Simmonds, were shot on film on the coast of the Scottish city. They have an authentic, honest atmosphere, a trait Harley’s work has become known for. The photographer met the family whilst visiting her grandma in Scotland, her uncle was completing building work on their home, a converted Church in the Highlands, and suggested they meet. Harley has been visiting them ever since.
In order for the family to feel relaxed the crew for this shoot was kept small. Their unobtrusiveness allowed Harley “to capture the family’s sense of freedom, where nothing has been staged, in an extraordinary setting of hillsides, dramatic coastlines, and golden beaches,” says menswear design director, Massimo Nicosia.
Pringle as a brand is responsible for the progression of knitwear in fashion since 1815, therefore Harley’s photographs combine an archive feel with a contemporary edge. In a world of fashion campaigns that often represent the unobtainable, the combination of Pringle’s historic values and the exemplary personality of Harley’s work has resulted in a heart-warmingly candid, but polished campaign.
The collection will be available from September.
