In Katharina Grosse’s latest exhibition the scale suggests landscape art but could as easily fall into other categories; her variegated visual offensive on the interior of the vast MASS MoCA Building 5 has turned the environment into a 3D painting, the epic land mounds are sculptural and the extreme, oblique Styrofoam monoliths are architectural. By engulfing her viewers within the very artwork they would often perceive from the outside, Grosse is including them in all of this excitement – alien and colourful and living.
