Air-brushed psychedelia and neon lights abound in Robert Beatty’s new work

Date

Kentucky-based artist and musician Robert Beatty is a master of the well-placed reference, his illustrations and album covers span air-brushed psychedelia and Eduardo Paolozzi-esque heads through to haunted houses and 80s neons. We wrote about his brilliant Tame Impala cover last year and since then he has worked with Wired and bands such as Neon Indian, Charlie Hilton and Idiot Glee. Robert’s work manages to strike the difficult balance of thematic nostalgia and contemporary application; making work that is bound to remind or lead you to the creative production of way back when, via the people reinterpreting that work in the now.
