It’s rare to witness a music video that makes you stop and stare, rarer still to be utterly transfixed to the point of replaying that video for a full half hour. Lana Del Rey’s self-made promo for forthcoming single Video Games is a total gem of a film, featuring a heady blend of soft-focus found footage and shots of the singer herself overlaid with a voice that is by turns childishly innocent and wise beyond its years. Proof, if any were needed, that DIY can be devastatingly effective.
