Jonathan Arundel's new photography journal Optology is a real joy to behold
We are lucky enough to get sent an awful lot of new magazines here at It’s Nice That and while many are very good, a few jump out immediately as being great. So it was with Optology a new independent publication overseen by creative director Jonathan Arundel, “dedicated to showcasing the finest emerging photography and styling talent.” This inaugural issue features the likes of Jeff Hahn, Christopher Hench and Sam Nixon and features range from dramatic snowscapes to the art of walking. But over and above this super-cool content, Optology is a beautiful object with restrained but stylish design and an unfussy approach which is happy to to let the photographers and stylists take centre stage. The dark blue cover with its muted central portrait is a thing of joy in its own right – we’re excited to see how the team behind this new offering maintain such sky-high standards in the forthcoming issues.
