Josef Albers sadly passed away in 1976, leaving behind him a trail of admirers, imitators, fanatics and collectors of his paintings. Among these is Jessica Eaton; a young photographer whose almost paranormal channeling of Josef Albers has led to a fantastic, contemporary homage to his work. By setting up backdrops of plastics, and scrunched material in her studio she then takes close-up photographs to create colourful, out-of-this-world images. An intelligent cube-enthusiast and a loyal Albers devotee, her work is so much more than just being aesthetically pleasing. I can’t wait to see where she takes her love of the abstract next.
