Sleek and polished graphic design from Munich-based agency Herburg Weiland

Date
24 July 2015

Munich-based agency Herburg Weiland’s portfolio of editorial design and branding is sophisticated, refined and cooly bold. This is reflected perfectly in the posters, identities and covers they’ve created for numerous galleries and magazines.

Founded in 2000 by Tom Ising, Martin Fengel and Judith Grubinger, the agency continually experiments with space, type and image in each project, but maintains a consistency and quality that’s hard to resist. The real beauty is how they avoid over-designing their projects and it’s what makes their portfolio even stronger; like their pared-back poster series of Cindy Sherman’s work, which hung in a Munich subway station earlier this year. The confidence to allow the photography to speak for itself with just minimal type and the station’s black tiles for company is admirable.
