I was blown away last night listening to a ‘Because’ talk by French digital artist & programmer Etienne Mineur, co-founder of Incandescence. Etienne’s experimental projects offer a richer understanding of the intersection between art and technology. His series of (archived) websites built for Issey Miyake captured the essence of the collections, playing on user experience. Women’s spring/summer 2007 collection embraced invisibility and ephemerality; the website content wasn’t accessible beyond your first viewing, leaving a blank screen without explanation. He’s now working on some seriously cool, mind-boggling games & books fusing tangible & digital media, using things like conductive ink.
