Claire-Anne O'Brien: Knit Stools

Date
29 September 2011

Claire-Anne O’Brien is a designer pushing knitting to the extreme. Having graduated from the RCA in 2010 she has since been working on a range of furniture that playfully exploits the techniques used in mechanical and hand-knitting. Her Knit Stools focus in on the intricacies of the knitted stitch and blow them up BIG – taking soft knitted ropes and plaiting, weaving and looping them to form the seat of the stool. The finish on each is unique, with some resembling sub-aquatic lifeforms and others looking more like a liquorice allsort, a comfy liquorice allsort (the best kind).
