Charlott Markus creates still lifes that could be inhabited. Frequently working site specifically, she uses objects to hand and off the street, re-composing them into abstractly balanced formations. With her use of layers and perspective, it’s hard to gauge how individual pieces sit in space so that they become less like photography and more like paintings or sculptural collage. The pieces pictured are formed by found garments filling holes in her studio walls, strangely revealing, like the underwear of some staid interior.
