Nom is an exhibition that will celebrate food from the diaspora in all its delicious glory

Date
17 October 2018

How do you celebrate food that might have been met with turned-up noses in the school canteen? For artist Georgina Johnson, her most recent exhibition Nom, aims to show you how.

The exhibition says aims to focus on the unique and nuanced relationship that artists and contributors have with food. Nom will include sculpture, installation, video and photography, celebrating the contemporary diasporic experience in all its cultural – and spicy – richness, from artists of colour across the globe.

Artists include guest curators Loren Elhili and Artist Sabrina Mumtaz Hasan from the UK, and Italian food designer Giulia Soldati. Multidisciplinary artists include Ilana Harris-Babou (NY), Moza Almatrooshi, (UAE) and material designer Renuka Ramanujam (Singapore). Alongside the exhibition, the contributors will collectively produce an exhibition book documenting their explorations within this project, which will be released at the show.

Nom takes place at Amp Gallery, Peckham, 6-8pm. Oct 20 – Nov 4.
